Summary of Festival Week Activities

Pirro Ligorio, Rome, 1773

Choral programs, vocal ensembles, period instruments in concert, and chamber group performances will be offered in a series of musical engagements during the week at selected venues throughout Rome and its environs – villas, gardens, churches, museums, and private residences (see below for possible venues for events).

The commissioned song cycle on the villas and gardens of Rome will be given its world premiere at the Festival as well.

As part of the Rome-Tivoli Music Festival, lectures will be given by invited speakers and experts resident in Rome on Palladio’s development in Rome as shaped by its architectural antiquities, churches, landscape design, and villas. A highlight of the week will be a special conducted tour of Rome which attempts to reconstruct the pilgrimage routes recommended by Palladio in his two famous guides to the city published in 1554.
