Palladio’s Villa Poiana, Poiana Maggiore

Evening concert to honor the Town of Vicenza, the Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura “A Palladio” (the International Center for the Study of the Architecture of Palladio), and Palladio’s contributions to the Town of Vicenza. Invited lecturer, Professor Guido Beltramini, Director, Centro Internazionale. Premiere of commissioned “Villa Rotunda Suite” composed by Antonio Eros Negri, for double quintet of strings and brass, 4 movement thematic expression of Palladio’s 4 great villas, performed by students of the Padua Conservatory of Music Cesare Pollini. Madrigal and motet vocal selections of the Venetian School of composers.

Friday, July 18, 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Palladio’s Villa Saraceno, Finale di Agugliaro

Festival evening concert of vocal and instrumental music – sacred and secular – from the 16th Century Northern Italian Renaissance in a soirée setting, including ensembles, duets, and art songs. Premiere of commissioned “Villa Saraceno Songs” composed by Antonio Eros Negri , a song cycle of madrigals based on the stories of frescoes of the Villa Saraceno, composed after the fashion of Petrarch, for treble voices. Dedicated to Dr. and Mrs. Donald Harleman, MIT by his colleagues, including the Consorzio Venezia Nuova, Thetis S.p.A and Technital S.p.A. Lecture and tour of Palladio’s Villa Saraceno by John Bucknall (architect, RIBA, project leader for the British Landmark Trust on the Villa Saraceno restoration).

Palladio’s San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice

Concert of Venetian sacred music to Celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Birth of Andrea Palladio (1508-1580) as part of the Festival of the Redentore. Premiere of commissioned “Sacred Mass in Honor of Andrea Palladio” composed by Marco Gemmani, Chapel Master, St. Mark’s Basilica, Venice, for two choirs and brass quintet in the Venetian style.  Choral and brass selections of the finest of the Venetian School of composers.

In addition on Sunday, July 20, the vocalists and brass ensemble of the Festival will offer a Choral Mass as part of the 11:00 am Mass at San Giorgio Maggoire.
